The Bantu culture and laws
If Christianity, imposed by the white man, claims that the law is abolished—and if that law is our Bantu culture—then it is conditioning us to reject our own heritage: our names, our languages, and our traditions. The consequences of this colonial religiosity are evident in Black Christians who refuse to give their children Bantu names, see no value in teaching them their ancestral languages, and instead favor Caucasian, low-vibrational names, foreign customs, coded demonic languages, and the Northern Hemisphere Gregorian (Greco-Roman) calendar—a calendar that is not only geographically irrelevant to Bantu peoples of the Southern Hemisphere but whose months and days honor pagan deities. The same energy that Christian pastors use to demonize Bantu culture is the same energy employed to discourage us from engaging with biblical laws. The Bible emphasizes kingdom-building far more than Christianity does, and without laws, any kingdom is destined to fail. A clear illustration of this is the population decline in Western societies.
Without the foundation of Bantu culture, the Afro-diaspora became disoriented, as Marcus Garvey asserted: “A people without knowledge of their past history, origin, and culture is like a tree without roots.”
The term “official language” is itself a colonial imposition, intended to elevate European languages as superior while rendering African languages inferior, suggesting they are insufficient to describe African realities. This ideology has psychologically undermined the African sense of self—a truth that many of us educated in Western paradigms fail to realize. Ngugi Wa Thiong’o, the Kikuyu activist and author, wrote in Decolonising the Mind: “Language as culture is the collective memory bank of a people’s experience in history.” He further explained: “The moment we lost our languages was also the moment we lost our bodies, our gold, diamonds, copper, coffee, tea, and more. The moment we accepted—or were forced to accept—that we could not operate through our languages was the moment we accepted that we could not utilize our vast resources.” He continues: “In colonial conquest, language was meant to complete what the sword had begun: to do to the mind what the sword had done to the body.”
Despite minor adaptations made during our migrations, Bantu culture and traditions remain the core foundation of the original biblical laws and commandments of Tata Nzambi. From male circumcision to marriage ceremonies, from birth rituals to funerary practices, from food production to food consumption, from childhood responsibilities to adult duties, our customs have preserved the monotheistic principles and relational ethics between families, siblings, youth, and elders. Unlike other African and indigenous Black nations, our naming practices reflect life circumstances, echoing the wisdom of our forebears. Our languages are the most vital testament to our heritage, proof of our existence transmitted across generations. From a young age, we were taught the laws and commandments by our parents and elders—the do’s and don’ts of our people—even before recognizing ourselves as Israelites. Before colonialism and slavery, we were always instructed in what constitutes sin in the eyes of our Creator and what does not.
Colonialism, however, demonized many of our customs through Christianity and Islam, pressuring us to turn away from our identity and reject some of the laws and commandments of Yah, which are inseparable from our original culture.
The 10 Commandments: Exodus 20
1. Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
2. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
3. Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
4. Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
5. Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

7. Thou shalt not commit adultery.
8. Thou shalt not steal.
9. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
10. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s.

1 When a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some uncleanness in her: then let him write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house. 2 And when she is departed out of his house, she may go and be another man’s wife. 3 And if the latter husband hate her, and write her a bill of divorcement, and giveth it in her hand, and sendeth her out of his house; or if the latter husband die, which took her to be his wife; 4 Her former husband, which sent her away, may not take her again to be his wife, after that she is defiled; for that is abomination before the Lord: and thou shalt not cause the land to sin, which the Lord thy God giveth thee for an inheritance. 5 When a man hath taken a new wife, he shall not go out to war, neither shall he be charged with any business: but he shall be free at home one year, and shall cheer up his wife which he hath taken.

Laws of servant and bondman: Deuteronomy 24:7, 24:14-15
7 If a man be found stealing any of his brethren of the children of Israel, and maketh merchandise of him, or selleth him; then that thief shall die; and thou shalt put evil away from among you. 14 Thou shalt not oppress an hired servant that is poor and needy, whether he be of thy brethren, or of thy strangers that are in thy land within thy gates: 15 At his day thou shalt give him his hire, neither shall the sun go down upon it; for he is poor, and setteth his heart upon it: lest he cry against thee unto the Lord, and it be sin unto thee.
Laws of Leprosy: Deuteronomy 24:8-9
8 Take heed in the plague of leprosy, that thou observe diligently, and do according to all that the priests the Levites shall teach you: as I commanded them, so ye shall observe to do. 9 Remember what the Lord thy God did unto Miriam by the way, after that ye were come forth out of Egypt.
Laws of lending: Deuteronomy 24:10-13
10 When thou dost lend thy brother any thing, thou shalt not go into his house to fetch his pledge. 11 Thou shalt stand abroad, and the man to whom thou dost lend shall bring out the pledge abroad unto thee. 12 And if the man be poor, thou shalt not sleep with his pledge: 13 In any case thou shalt deliver him the pledge again when the sun goeth down, that he may sleep in his own raiment, and bless thee: and it shall be righteousness unto thee before the Lord thy God.
